MEET OUR TEAM: Yasmeen, Social Media and Marketing Associate

Updated: Nov 17, 2021

OCT 19, 2021

This final edition of Meet Our Team catches up with Yasmeen, our Social Media and Marketing Associate. Having just finished her master’s in Entrepreneurship, Yasmeen is the most recent addition to the DG Brownies team.

Meet Yasmeen, who works on DG Brownies marketing and social media pages.

What does your day to day look like?

I think it really depends on what day of the week we’re talking about. On Monday’s I always have a nice big cup of coffee and work on scheduling posts for the week on social media. Throughout the week, I’m usually working on different strategies that we can implement, and also coming up with different ideas for content. Sometimes I’ll be working on creating the content itself, on platforms such as Canva. I’m also planning the launch of our TikTok account. If there’s a DG Brownie photoshoot, I’m there.

Is TikTok the next avenue for DG Brownies?

We’re definitely planning on getting on TikTok. Being a start-up is all about trial and error, so this is the next platform we are going to try. I personally believe it’s the way forward as video is the best way to capture how delicious the brownies look.

What is your favourite thing about working here?

I really enjoy working in such an understanding environment. All ideas are shared between us. I’ve been enjoying the brainstorming sessions we’ve been doing recently, which are going to be really fruitful. When I’m creating a marketing strategy, it’s not just me doing it on my own, we all pitch in together with our own ideas. Just the fact that we can all work together is really great.

Is there anything in the works that you can talk about…?

I’m excited as there’s a gluten-free brownie in the works!

Share DG Brownies at a picnic in the park with friends.

Where do you see DG brownies in 5 years’ time?

More collaborations with vegan brands. I think that would be cool. I also think that we could potentially sell DG Brownies on online vegan platforms such as The Vegan Kind Supermarket.

Tell us a little bit about growing up in Lebanon

I think the one thing that I absolutely love and adore is Lebanese hospitality. Ayo and I were just talking about this. Back home, everyone is super hospitable in the sense that wherever you go, you will go and meet new people and make new friends. Wherever you go, you’ll be greeted by everyone.

I also spend a lot of my time back home going to drag shows. I think people assume that a country like Lebanon wouldn’t be progressive, but the Drag scene is really huge back home. We’ve got tons of drag queens coming from Ru Paul’s Drag Race that come and perform there.

What is your favourite Lebanese Dish?

I’ve recently gone plant-based, but the meat at home was amazing, it was seasoned so well. That aside, I love stuffed vine leaves, they’re absolutely delicious, and you can have them warm or cold.

Keep up to date with our latest flavours. This October, our limited-edition flavour is Chewy Coconut.

Outside of work, where are we most likely to find you?

At the park, hugging trees. I’m the kind of person who sits under a tree and starts crying over how beautiful it is. You can usually find me in nature, or, at a drag show.

What are your hobbies?

Yoga and meditation, which I do every day. I’m practising ashtanga. I’m also learning how to play the drums.

Where do you dream about going?

Peru, not just because I’m obsessed with Peruvian food. I’d really want to go to see the northern lights, potentially Iceland. I’ve been dreaming of seeing them in person ever since I was a little girl.

What are your three favourite places to eat in London?

Pachamama, a Peruvian restaurant in Marylebone, and Fumo, an Italian restaurant in Covent Garden. I’ve been going to some of Gordon Ramsey’s restaurants quite a bit recently, not because of the food, but because I really want to meet him! I’ve been watching a lot of Gordon Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares. If I go enough, I’m sure I’ll find him…

Thank you, Yasmeen, for sharing an insight into yourself and your position at DG Brownies!
